On New Year’s Eve, air traffic controllers at LAX will once again change flight paths so that no planes fly over Watts. The reason? There are so many celebratory shots fired into the air on New Year’s Eve that it is unsafe to fly a plane over that neighborhood. Nearby at the King/Drew Medical Center, doctors treated 118 people for random falling-bullet injuries between 1985 and 1992. 38 of those people died.
Let me put this another way: At one hospital, about five people per year die of BULLETS FALLING FROM THE SKY!
